The Long Wear Series

Second Shift began with a pair of vintage French workwear pants in heavy cotton, and what attracted me was the original darns and repairs in a mixture of blues. I left the earlier repairs visible and added a some of my own where the cloth needed reinforcement. All of the stitches you see on the outside were sewn either by the original repairer or by me.

Daybreak takes vintage French chore pants in faded moleskin cotton and turns them into a long, fully hand-sewn scarf. I kept the original darns and repairs visible and added a couple of my own where the fabric needed reinforcement.

Back to Work uses vintage French chore clothing in faded moleskin, and what stayed with me was the amount of original mending still present in the fabric. I added a couple of repairs where the cloth needed support, keeping everything on the surface sewn by hand.
