Checked
Checked is made from antique Japanese katazome cotton naturally dyed with indigo and carrying a very rare checkered pattern. I’ve always found that pattern especially striking.
I made this face mask in my Brooklyn studio with two layers of antique 100% cotton. There is an opening in the lining for your own filter and another at the upper back so you can add a nose bridge. It comes with a removable nose bridge, 2.5 mm soft elastic cord, an adjustable toggle, and one sheet of sterilization cloth for an extra layer.
To adjust the elastic, put the mask on and move the cord up or down with the toggle until it feels right. Once you have the fit you want, tie the ends of the cord at the toggle and trim away any excess.
It measures about 9.5" across by 5.5" from nose to chin and was designed to fit many adult male sizes. It is washable and comfortable to wear for extended periods.
Katazome is a Japanese method of dyeing fabric with a resist paste applied through a stencil.
Peace & Thread face masks are not medical masks. Without a filter inserted, they offer only a minimal physical barrier, and no medical claims are made regarding their use.
