Ember Bloom

Ember Bloom is one of the smaller pillows, but it has a lot of presence. I made it from perfectly faded antique Japanese katazome fabric with an orange floral pattern against indigo.

I added four small hand-sewn patches and backed the antique fabric with canvas for reinforcement. It closes with a hidden zipper.

The pillow measures 13.75" × 13.25", and I chose a 16" × 16" down insert for it.

Scripted is made from beautifully faded antique Japanese tsutsugaki fabric from the early 1900s. What gives this piece its character is the Japanese script across the surface.
