Shadow
Shadow is made from a deconstructed antique Japanese boro noragi jacket built up from multiple layers of indigo cotton. The fabric had already been heavily patched and repaired, with extensive sashiko stitching and worn through areas where the layers underneath had started to show. I kept as much of that original wear and repair visible as possible and added my own reinforcement where the fabric needed more support.
What stands out most in this scarf are the black patches worked into the indigo. They appear in several places on both sides, creating darker sections against the faded blue, with smaller areas of grey showing through as well. The different layers, patches, stitching, and wear shift as you move across the scarf.
Because the original jacket was built up over time, Shadow is multiple layers thick and has a substantial feel while still remaining flexible enough to wear. It measures 8.25" × 57".
